This course will give you an insight into dyslexia and language learning. It will enable you to recognize the signs of possible dyslexia in your students and it will give you the main tools to start adapting your classes and lesson material to your students with dyslexia. It’s a perfect course for practicing or new language teachers who start to wonder about dyslexia.

Teaching Languages to Students with Dyslexia

Come to the beautiful city of Málaga for a 1-week course that will take any language teacher to the next level in inclusive teaching practices.

Classes are held in the mornings in our city-center location which leaves plenty of time in the afternoon and evenings to explore our beautiful meditarranean city and its beaches and enjoy Spanish gastronomy.

Any practising language teachers who is passionate about teaching and wants to learn more about dyslexia and be able to cater more effectively for their dyslexic students in welcome in our courses.

Dyslexia Awareness Course: in this course, your will learn more about what dyslexia, what it feels like to be dyslexic and how to be able to recognize it in your students. You will also learn the basic adaptations of both your class methodology and your lesson material to start catering better and more effectively for your students with dyslexia, as well as how to motivate your students with dyslexia and take them to their highest potential in language learning.

KA1 Erasmus + – Teaching Languages to Students with Dyslexia: in this course you will learn about dyslexia, what it is, how the dyslexic brain works and how it feels to have dyslexia. You will be able to screen for dyslexia in the classroom and what to do when you have a student with possible dyslexia. You will learn to use our multisensorial dyslexia language teaching methodology as well as undergo a practical training in adapting and creating your own dyslexia friendly lesson material. We will look at exams and how to test your dyslexic student in an equal manner. Furthermore, we will spend time on the important role of emotional intelligence in language education and the most effective language coaching techniques to create long lasting and powerful rapport with your students, help them set their learning goals, enhance their motivation and build a healthy self esteem. This course is both theoretical as well as practical, for which it is important that you are a practising teacher.

Although what you will learn in our courses is focused on students with dyslexia, it is also very useful for students with other types of neurodiversity, like Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, ADHD or Asperger.

Research shows that over 40% of students with a different neurodiverse condition also have dyslexia.

Apart from that, experience tells us that whatever works well for students with a dyslexic brain, also works well for students that have a «neurotypical» brain. Therefore, our courses will benefit ALL your students.

Dyslexia Awareness Course: this course consists of two 3-hour online sessions (Zoom) with your tutor and approximately 4 hours of self study material, consisting of video, text and audio materials.

KA1 Erasmus + – Teaching Languages to Students with Dyslexia: this course will take place in our facilities in the beautiful mediterranean city of Málaga. Over a span of 6 days (Monday to Saturday) you will have daily 4-hour sessions of instruction and practise. Since we are based in such a wonderful environment, some of the course sessions will be done out of classroom, at the Roman Theatre, a central square of even the beach (so bring your flip-flops to class).

Dyslexia Awareness Course: this course is organized once per month with a minimum of 4 participants. We offer several timetables (morning, afternoon and evening) so participants from different time zones can join our classes. Contact us for more information on course dates and times.
